The Foundation Stud

The Entwine Pendant is a study in fluid geometry. Rather than a traditional bail soldered onto a setting, Stoney designed the entire frame as a single, continuous sweep of precious metal. The form loops back upon itself, creating an intricate, figure-eight knot that serves both as the chain's anchor and the architectural support for the central stone.

The sapphire is suspended within this teardrop-shaped cradle, secured firmly by four rounded claws that emerge naturally from the inner curve of the sweeping halo. This open-architecture design allows maximum light to enter the pavilion of the stone, illuminating the deep saturation and internal life of the Queensland sapphire from every angle.

Because of its complex, three-dimensional curves, the Entwine cannot simply be polished by machine. Every interior loop and sweeping line must be burnished by hand at the bench to ensure a flawless, mirror-like finish before the stone is finally set.
