The Solstice Studs

The Solstice Studs explore the dramatic tension between clean minimalism and explosive brilliance. Stoney designed each earring around a solid, protective bezel that hugs the central sapphire, extending outward along one hemisphere into an architectural, graduated diamond crest. The multi-tiered diamond spires fan upward along the curve of the earlobe, delivering the visual impact of an ear climber while retaining the balance and effortless wearability of a classic post stud.

Cast in solid 18k yellow, white, or rose gold, the piece is offered with either a rich Australian forest green or deep velvety royal blue sapphire. The smooth, heavy gold bezel frames the central 5mm gem like a deep pool of color, providing a bold resting place for the eye before breaking into the energetic diamond rays. Graduated round brilliant diamonds are hand-set tightly across five distinct gold spires, creating an intense burst of fire that frames the face.

Executing sharp geometric rays requires rigorous bench discipline from the moment the cast metal leaves the tree. To preserve the crisp, architectural silhouette of the spires, Stoney and his bench team hand-lap every angle and transition between the smooth bezel and the stepped diamond platform using fine abrasive laps. Micro-setting each graduated round diamond under high magnification ensures the delicate prongs secure the gems without rounding off the sharp outer points of the gold rays.
